Szkoła Australian Institute of Commerce and Languages w Sydney założona została przez Jima Yanga, a istnieje od 2000 roku. Od początku specjalizowała się w organizowaniu kursów języka angielskiego, obecnie zaś oferuje także kursy zawodowe i przygotowuje studentów do podjęcia nauki na uniwersytecie. Dzięki specjalnym umowom absolwenci studiów zawodowych w AICL mogą bez zdawania egzaminów wstępnych kontynuować naukę na prestiżowych uniwersytetach w Australii: Central Queensland University (CQU), La Trobe University i Charles Stuart University oraz szwajcarską szkołą International Hotel Management Institute (IMI). Od 2005 roku szkoła współpracuje też z renomowanym college\'em państwowym TAFE NSW (Sydney Institute).
Szkoła zlokalizowana jest w samym centrum Sydney i jest dobrze wyposażona - oprócz przestronnych sal wykładowych i sali komputerowej z dostępem do Internetu posiada własną bibliotekę i salę wypoczynkową do dyspozycji studentów. Our role:
The broad aim of NEAS is to establish and uphold high standards of service provision in English Language Teaching.
The purpose of the scheme is:
- to set standards of quality in the provision of ELT programs and related services
- to provide a professional judgment as to whether ELT centres meet and continue to meet those standards
In achieving our purpose, NEAS is:
- Rigorous in its audit regime so as to sustain high levels of delivery of English language teaching;
- Supportive of the industry through maintaining a role of offering external continual improvement advice to ELT centres;
- Co-operative in its dealings with industry and government representatives when working to the benefit of the industry and its key beneficiaries, the students studying English;
- Open in its willingness to learn and participate in the future of the industry and open to reviews and evaluations of its own operations.
NEAS also aims to develop quality in service provision of ELT centres by taking a professional development role in the ELT sector. Information sessions are at times offered by NEAS which are aimed at raising awareness of quality issues in ELT, and NEAS convenes an annual national conference for the benefit of ELT managers. This conference focuses on management issues typically facing ELT managers, with the content based on the needs of the participants.
NSW Vocational Education and Training Accreditation Board (VETAB)
VETAB Mission Statement:
VETAB’s mission is to foster vocational education and training of the highest possible quality and with the widest possible community access, through a firm commitment to excellence, integrity and partnership. VETAB is committed to providing the highest quality services to all our customers.
VETAB’s main functions are:
- to register training organisations;
- to accredit vocational courses;
- to approve persons to provide courses for overseas students;
- to advise the Minister, liaise with authorities (both in NSW and elsewhere) and investigate and report on matters relating to these registration, accreditation and approval functions.
These are outlined in the Vocational Education and Training Act 2005 (the VET Act). The Act replaced the Vocational Education and Training Accreditation Act 1990 on 26 April 2006. These functions are supported by staff within the Quality Assurance Services Directorate of the NSW Department of Education and Training.
